Survive

by Iman Sehrai

I am not whole

I reside in the core of molten hot

Scarlet, copper, even electric blue streaks

I am growing through the thick crust

Forming alien shapes this mind cannot comprehend, yet

This body does it without pain; stretching, thinning, expanding

The star dust that floats in my purple blood pumping me full of precedent

I blink and a teardrop from the glaciers fall into the grand canyon of my lap

Reaching and gathering pieces of myself, forming and discovering the cracks

A white mist envelops my granite legs and suddenly I am weightless

I can see my pieces beneath me, my lungs in the north, my kidneys floating in the sea

And my heart, it lies on the equator

Crimson, ochre, electric blue bubbling from its arteries
